Updated October 2026. Luggage is the one purchase where a wrong call follows you through every airport for a decade, so this list exists to narrow the field to the cases our customers actually keep. The big shift this year has been toward cabin-first travel: more airlines are measuring to the 55 x 40 x 23 cm limit at the gate, weight allowances have tightened, and shoppers have responded by buying one very good cabin case and one checked case rather than a matching five-piece set.
We ranked the field on three things: customer best-sellers over the last 90 days, return rates (a case that comes back usually has a wheel or handle problem), and versatility across short-haul and long-haul trips. Every piece here is priced below retail and made to the same specification as the boutique version, with free worldwide tracked shipping and 30-day returns on every order.
1. Coated Canvas Trolley Case, Medium, Black
Suited to the traveller who wants a soft-sided case that still holds its shape. The coated canvas shrugs off scuffs and rain far better than untreated fabric, and the medium size sits comfortably in the checked category for a week away. Two-wheel trolleys like this one roll best when pulled behind you rather than pushed alongside, so allow for that on long terminal walks.

2. Monogram Canvas Four-Wheel Suitcase, Black
Four spinner wheels make this the pick for anyone who moves through airports with a coffee in one hand. The patterned canvas body is lighter than a hardside equivalent at the same volume, and the dark colourway hides the inevitable baggage-belt marks. Soft-sided construction gives a little when overpacked, which is useful on the return leg, though it offers less crush protection for fragile items.

3. Gloss Polycarbonate Compact Case, Brown
For short trips where you want full hardside protection without the bulk, the compact format is the sweet spot. Polycarbonate flexes under impact rather than cracking, and the gloss finish wipes clean. Brown is a quieter choice than black on the carousel and surprisingly easy to spot. Expect fine surface scratches over time; that is the nature of a high-gloss shell and most owners come to regard it as patina.

4. Checkerboard Canvas Rolling Case, 60 cm
The 60 cm size is the classic checked-bag format: large enough for ten days, small enough to lift into a car boot unaided. Coated canvas over a rigid frame gives this case a structured look that photographs well and travels well. Its two-wheel design is stable on cobbles and kerbs where spinners struggle, and the dark check pattern is the most forgiving of the finishes we stock.

5. Transparent Polycarbonate Cabin Case, Neon Pink
Anyone who has watched a hundred identical black cases pass by will understand the appeal here. The transparent shell with a neon pink frame is impossible to lose on a belt, and it sits within standard cabin dimensions for most carriers. It is also the lightest case on this list, which matters when a 7 kg cabin limit is being weighed at the gate. Pack with a little care, since the contents are visible.

6. Monogram Canvas Cabin Case, 55 cm
This is the cabin case our customers reorder most, and the reason is the 55 cm height, which clears the overhead locker on nearly every short-haul fleet. The coated canvas exterior resists scuffs and the interior is organised with straps and a flat pocket for documents. Weight sits in the middle of the range for a structured cabin case, so leave a margin on strict low-cost carriers.

7. Lightweight Gloss Polycarbonate Cabin Case, Black
Frequent flyers who care about weight before anything else should start here. The lightweight polycarbonate shell cuts several hundred grams against a standard hardside cabin case without giving up the protective shell, and the black finish is the easiest to live with. Spinner wheels glide on polished floors. The trade-off is a thinner shell that shows pressure dents if the case is routinely crammed into an overfull locker.

8. Printed Canvas Small Suitcase, Blue Multicolour
Weekend trips and overnight work travel are where a small printed case earns its keep. The blue multicolour canvas is the most distinctive finish in our range and it reads as a fashion piece rather than a utility one. Sized for the cabin, it still holds two days of clothes and a laptop. Printed canvas needs a wipe rather than a scrub, so keep it out of the hold where possible.

How we chose
Our shortlist started with every suitcase sold through Voyanti between July and September 2026, ranked by units and by the share of orders that came back. We then weighted for versatility, giving extra credit to cases that work across both cabin and checked use, and to colourways that customers reported being easy to identify on a belt. Prices quoted are our current prices in AUD and sit below the boutique retail figure in every case.
Cabin or checked, hard or soft
Start with how you fly. If most of your trips are short-haul on tight allowances, buy the best cabin case you can afford and keep it under 55 x 40 x 23 cm and around 7 kg packed; most airlines measure to those numbers even if their published limits vary slightly. For anything over five nights, a 60 cm checked case is the practical size. Hardside polycarbonate protects contents and wipes clean; soft-sided canvas is lighter, forgives overpacking and takes an external pocket. Four spinner wheels are easier in terminals, two larger wheels cope better with pavements. Whichever you choose, test the handle extension before travelling and never lift a packed case by its top handle alone.
